The role of the job manager consists in:
- automatically detecting (by regular monitoring) and taking in charge the tasks submitted by users,
- informing users who have submitted these tasks that the jobs have been completed (with or without errors) by providing them with an execution report.
All actions are displayed on the job manager graphic interface.
Hence it is possible to find out the state of a job, its type, its priority and on which machine it must be processed.
The job manager can also be run in batch mode (as a service in Windows NT).
Job managers can be administered remotely through an administration console.
