This tab displays the list of agents (service or automated programs) that are saved in the Job manager.

To manage agents, you must have administrator permissions for the Job manager.

To manage the agents for the Job manager, select the Agents tab in the Job manager window.

 

List

Agents

List of agents displayed with the following data:

State of the agent

The different icons indicate the job status of the agent.

Job state

 

The agent is stopped. The agent ran successfully the last time, or was never run.

The agent is starting.

The agent is active.

The agent is in the process of stopping.

The agent is stopped. Errors occurred the last time the agent ran.

The agent is stopped. Warnings occurred the last time the agent ran.

 

 

Agent name

Name of the agent. This name is unique to the Job manager.

 

PID

If the agent is active, this column contains the ID of the process that is running the agent (gsagent.exe).

 

Description

Description of the agent.

 

Startup

Agent start mode.

Possible values:

Manual

The agent will start at the request of a user.

Automatic

The agent will start automatically when the Job manager starts.

Disabled

The agent is deactivated, it cannot be started.

 

 

State

State of the agent.

Possible values:

Warnings

The agent is stopped. Warnings occurred the last time it ran.

Stopped

The agent is stopped. It ran successfully the last time, or was never run.

Starting

The agent is in the process of starting.

Started

The agent is currently running.

Stopping

The agent is in the process of stopping.

Errors

The agent is stopped. Errors occurred the last time it ran.

Invalid state

The state in the database is not recognised.

 

 

Server

Name of the machine for which the agent is planned. If the agent is currently running, this column displays the machine on which it is running.

 

Restarts

Number of automatic restarts permitted at agent level in the event of failure.

 

Failures

Number of failures logged since the last time it started "normally". If this number exceeds the number of permitted restarts, the agent will not be restarted automatically.

 

Status

Text that can be filled in by the agent itself in order to update the user while it is running. For example, it can be used to display the current stage of a process. (See functions GSASetStatusText and GSAGetStatusText in the DLL file used for managing agents (GSAGENTDLL).
