To configure job manager performance, select the Performance option from the Edit general menu .
The performance settings of the job manager can only be modified by an administrator.
Use this box to adjust the parameters that affect the processing performance associated with job management (acquisition/execution).
Optimal performances are achieved if the job manager does not indifferently run jobs that do not specify the assignment machine ("Manage non assigned jobs" different from "Execute non assigned jobs"), and when simple name resolution is used (without verifying IP addresses).
If this is the case, you can select the job to be run directly using a unity query rather than selecting all jobs that could be activated and then performing secondary tests (on the execution machine and based on unicity) to confirm that the job can actually be run.
It is also possible to reduce the management time by deactivating the generation of report headers (which can represent 25% of the total management time).

General performance settings
Queue wait delay
This field allows you to specify a wait time between two job acquisition attempts when no job is available.
This specifies the maximum latency time for a queue between two job executions.
By default: 3 seconds.
Note: a job manager is considered to be in error (inactive) by the administration console if it has not given any "sign of life" for an arbitrarily set time of five times the queue wait time.
Lock refresh period
Box checked |
Allows the administrator to lock the refresh period to the number of seconds indicated. |
Box not checked |
The queue refresh period is not locked. |
By default: box not checked.
Simple name resolution
Box checked |
Simple name resolution is used (search by conformity of name). |
Box not checked |
Normal resolution is used (tougher correspondence test). |
By default: box not checked.
Create job report headers
Box checked |
The job manager generates a "standard" header and footer in the job report. |
Box not checked |
The job manager does not generate a "standard" header and footer in the job report. |
By default: box checked.
Buttons
Optimal performance
This button activates the most aggressive performance options.
It is possible that the client application may need to be customised to run using these parameters.
Compatibility
This button activates the options corresponding to the default behaviour of previous versions.
No specific optimisation is therefore activated.
