On a 24 by 80-character terminal, you cannot create within layouts, variables greater than 80 characters in length (alphanumeric variables), and respectively, on a 27 by 132-character terminal, variables greater than 132 characters in length.
If you wish to define a variable of larger size:
Create a conceptual property of the desired length.
Generate the field reference file from the LDM/PDM session (use the corresponding option of the PDM menu).
Create a variable with maximum authorised length (before reaching the right border edge of the transaction).
By modifying the characteristics of the variable, specify the name of the conceptual property in the reference field.
Important note: Leave sufficient space for the following lines, otherwise you will have overlapping fields.
For the window-type transactions (Adelia or IBM), the fields cannot overflow on several lines.
