To work with:
the tasks of the current application area, select the Tasks tab of the Object manager and select the All tasks radio button.
the tasks assigned to a given program, select the Tasks option in the context-sensitive menu (or the equivalent button) in the Programs tab of the Object manager.
A task is a logical gathering of programs.
Buttons
Next program
Displays the list of tasks for the next selected program in the list in the Programs tab.
This button is only active if more than one program is selected and the end of the selection has not been reached.
Radio buttons
Program tasks
This button displays the name of the program to which the task list corresponds, in the adjacent field.
All tasks
This button displays all the tasks for the current application area, in the list.
Lists
Tasks
List of the tasks of the current application area. For each one, the name, the type (interactive or batch) and the description are specified.
The sort sequence can be defined by clicking the column headers of the list.
A filter located above the list can be used to limit the tasks displayed.
Extended-selection list.
With correction environments, there may be a check mark in front of each task name.
A red check mark shows that the task is being held by the default correction.
A black check mark shows that the task is being held by a correction other than the default correction.
Context-sensitive menu
The following options are accessible at all times via the context-sensitive menu.
In addition, there may be buttons to perform the same actions on the right-hand side of the window, depending on the settings in the Create/Modify a software engineer dialog box's Preferences tab.
Create
This option opens a dialog box which is used to create a task.
Modify
This option opens a dialog box which is used to display or modify the general characteristics of the selected task.
This option is not active when no task is selected in the list.
Copy
This option opens a dialog box which is used to copy a task of the current application area.
This dialog box is identical to the task definition box.
This option is not active when no task is selected in the list.
Delete
This option opens a message box which is used to confirm the final deletion of the selected tasks.
When the deletion is validated, the list of tasks is updated accordingly.
This option is not active when no task is selected in the list.
This option prints the characteristics of the selected tasks.
The printing job is submitted to the Job manager.
This option is not active when no task is selected in the list.
Programs
This option opens the Object manager's tab which is used to work with the programs assigned to the selected task.
This option is not active when no task is selected in the list.
Build
This option opens a dialog box which is used to create a master program.
Validating this dialog box starts the guided building of the sequence of programs making up the task and corresponding to the program template assigned to the task.
This option is only active when the selected conventional task has a program template and has not been assigned any programs.
Attach
Opens a dialog box that lets you attach one or more repository tasks to the current application area. (Programs assigned to the task will be attached to the current application area if possible.)
Detach
This option is used to detach the selected tasks from the current application area.
This option is not active when no task is selected in the list.
Important: If the tab is called from the program manager, the Attach and Detach options are inaccessible.
App. areas
This option opens a dialog box displaying the various application areas to which the selected task is attached.
This option is not active when no task is selected in the list.
AS/400 Compiler
This button launches the compilations requested for the AS/400. Compilation is launched in the Job manager, in the queue of jobs to be compiled.
It is only active if one or more tasks are selected in the list.
This option is only active if the selected task is a *SRVPGM task and its IBM task name is filled in, and if it does not have any programs with an IBM name more than 10 characters long.
Note: This button cannot be used to generate the programs assigned to the selected task; it can only be used to create a service program.

Hold
This option opens a dialog box enabling the selected tasks to be held by the default correction.
This option is only visible in correction environments.
It is only active when one or more tasks are selected in the list and the user has a default correction.
