In order to be able to modify an object, the software engineer must be the owner of the object, or have the appropriate modification authorities (or "*REP" replacement authorities) on the current application area.
Only an "administrator"-type software engineer can grant or modify these authorities.
If the software engineer does not have modification authorities for an object, clicking the Modify button in the object's management box opens the object's modification dialog box, but only in display mode. This means that the software engineer can read the information concerning the object but cannot modify it.
In this case, the dialog box title only contains the object's name (without "Modify a ..."). The validation button, renamed Enter (instead of Modify), is used to close the dialog box.
Note: The dialog box will also be opened in display mode when other buttons than Modify are used.
