The SSG palette is made up of 12 tools.
The desired tool is selected by clicking the corresponding symbol in the palette; it is then highlighted, which specifies the current mode, and the shape of the mouse pointer changes accordingly.
The selected tool can then be used by clicking the work space on the desired location.
The Text tool is used to enter text on the work space (e.g. a title). |
|
The Arrow tool (or selection mode) is the tool selected by default. It is active when no other tool is being used. You can adopt it again at any moment by clicking with the right button of the mouse, which also ends the current operation mode. |
|
The Interactive and Batch programs tools are used to position on the graph, programs which can be called from transactions. |
Click below for detailed information about the corresponding dialog boxes:
These two tools cannot be accessed from the SSG for a program template.
The End of program tool is used to position on the graph the program's End object. When it is already positioned, this tool is dimmed and unavailable. |
|
|
The Double, Single and Loop links tools are used to position the various types of links between the transactions and between the called or submitted programs. They correspond to the 4GL instructions CALL, PROCESS, EXECUTE and TERMINATE. |
|
The Window and Screen transactions tools are used to position on the graph transactions of both types. |
Click below for detailed information of the corresponding dialog boxes:
|
The Zoom In and Zoom Out tools maximize or minimize a part of the screen, zooms being centered around the location clicked. |
The various tools for positioning programs, transactions or links, do not create these objects. They only create the graphical representation of an object which must be defined in the corresponding dialog box. This box is called by double-clicking the graphical object designed.
As long as the objects are not defined, they remain empty: on the screen, they are marked by two question marks "??". These empty objects are not taken into account during the possible generation of a prototype.
The positioning of a graphical object (transaction, program or end of program) is performed by clicking the corresponding tool in the box, then by clicking the work space to place the object. To place several objects of the same type, just click repeatedly after moving the cursor to the desired location.
