SSL: Secure Sockets Layers
Protocol used to secure transactions made via Internet. This standard depends on a public-key cryptography process in order to guarantee the security of data transmission over the Internet.
Its principle consists in establishing a secure (coded) communication channel between two machines (a client and a server) after authentication.
