The specific license key conversion procedure concerns users who have installed the physical key (dongle) on a different machine from the database server managing Adelia environments.
It is no longer necessary to transfer the license's management if you are using a software license. Note that you can convert the license key into a software license from a machine running Adelia Studio 13 or earlier. Version 14 does not support dongles. Once the conversion is complete, you can assign the license to a version 14 or later license server.
You need to do the following to convert your existing key and transfer the license server back to the database server:
- Install the license server on the machine with the dongle (SRVKEY) for version 13 and on the database server (DBSRV) for version 14.
- On a client machine running Adelia Studio 13 or earlier, connect to the license manager on the machine with the dongle (SRVKEY) to convert the Smartkey dongle into a software key.
- Choose the Convert license key option in the License menu. The dongle is disabled and the software license is created in the Hardis information system.
Then release the license using the Release license option in the License menu.
On a client machine running the current version of Adelia, connect to the license manager on the database server (DBSRV).
Select Assign license in the License menu. Your license appears in the list as being available.
Select the license and click on the Assign button.
Note: after this step, the SRVKEY license server no longer has a valid license installed and may be shut down. You can uninstall it later.
You then need to correctly re-register the license server to use in each environment and in the default value in the ADELIWS.INI file:
8. Edit the ADELIWS.INI file on all the machines and enter the AUTHENT_SERVER line as a comment by adding a semi-colon at the start of the line.
9. For each environment, delete the license server's redirection instruction by entering the following command: "adauthserv ENVIRONNAME *DEFAULT".
Once you have completed this procedure, the Adelia installation becomes operational and the license server is located on the database server (default installation).
