Access

To add a new basic graphical object (BGO), select the Add BGO option in the context-sensitive menu (or the equivalent button) in the Graphical objects tab of the Object manager.


To display or modify the general characteristics of a basic graphical object (BGO), select the Modify option in the context-sensitive menu (or the equivalent button) in the Graphical objects tab of the Object manager.


Data entry

Name

Name of the graphical object.

This name must be a valid graphical object name (as defined by IBM), unique in the environment.

Length: 15 characters maximum.

Mandatory field.


Description

Description clearly identifying the graphical object.

Length: 250 characters maximum.

Mandatory field.


File name

Name of the file indicating the DLL for the current graphical object.

The file search will be run according to the value of the PATH system variable.

Length: 15 characters maximum.

Mandatory field.


Prefix

Name of the graphic control when the object is placed in the layout.

Length: 10 characters maximum.

Optional field.


Buttons

Information

This button opens a dialog box displaying information on the current graphical object, such as the name of the software engineer-owner, the dates and times of creation and modification.

This button is not active in creation mode


Comments

This button opens a dialog box for entering a comment text which will be associated with the current graphical object.


Enter/Create/Modify (validation)

The Enter button (in display mode) closes the dialog box.

The Create button (in creation mode) or Modify button (in modification mode) validates the dialog box.

The various fields of the dialog box are verified. If all are valid, the graphical object definition is updated in the database before the box is closed; otherwise, an error message is displayed.


Cancel

This button closes the dialog box without validating the choices made.

Keyboard shortcut: Esc.
