Access

To display a Btrieve file's description and relations, click the Open button of the Open a Btrieve file dialog box.

 

The dialog box displayed depends on the type of Btrieve file selected: physical or logical.

 

Displayed data

File (physical or logical)

This section displays general information on the file:

    • name,

    • description,

    • name of the directory containing the file,

    • size of the records stored,

    • total number of records,

    • variable size records ("No" in Adelia),

    • compressed records ("No" in Adelia),

    • number of indexes,

    • free space threshold ("10%" in Adelia).

Lists

Files

This list displays the names of the files containing indexes with:

    • the index number,

    • the field name of each key,

    • the sort order applied to the key (ascending or descending),

    • the field type (alphanumeric, extended numeric or packed numeric),

    • the indication of the existence of an Alternate Collating Sequence (ACS),

    • the field's first position in the index,

    • the number of bytes occupied by the field.

Reminder: a physical file can have an index.

 

Single-selection list.

 

Note: Whenever an inconsistency is detected, the lines are displayed in red (e.g. index not used, logical file referring to an identical index in the physical file, logical file referring to a non existent index, etc.).

 

Buttons

Fields

This button opens a dialog box displaying all the fields forming the logical file.

 

Logical

This button opens a dialog box displaying general information on the selected logical file.

This button is not active when no file is selected in the list.

 

Details

This button opens a dialog box containing details on the selected key.

This button is not active when no file is selected in the list.

 

ACS

This button opens a dialog box displaying the Alternate Collating Sequence of the selected file.

This button is only active if an item is selected in the list, and if it is checked in its ACS column.

 

Exit

This button closes the dialog box.

Keyboard shortcut: Esc.
