To display the description of columns, click the Columns button of the Modify a subfile format dialog box.
Important note: This dialog box only applies to subfile formats of screen-type transactions. Indeed, in window-type transactions, the formats cannot have more than one column.
This dialog box automatically opens when the number of columns of the format is greater than 1.
In the Modify a subfile format dialog box, when the user specifies several columns, the system computes the location and the number of the possible columns according to the field locations on the SFL format.
If the user asks for more columns than is possible, the system asks if he wants to correct the number of columns before quitting the dialog box.
Displayed data
The system indicates the space filled on the screen by the column formed by the placed fields and, possibly, the space filled by the other possible columns.
This dialog box thus helps making a decision relative to the number of possible columns.
