For 36 file format names without a period
Create (via option 62) a logical entity having the same structure as the 36 file.
Generate the entity in order to update the file glossary.
Create an access, then generate this access giving it the same format name as the 36 file's format name. Use this access at view level within the model.
On execution, run the OVRDBF command without the format verification option (LVLCHK = *NO).
For 36 file format names containing a period
Duplicate the original 36 file and give the new file a name without a period (if the file name does not have a period, you do not need to duplicate it).
Retrieve the duplicated 36 file description using option 60; a logical entity is created in the LDM.
In the file glossary (menu option 85, then F17, then option 3=Characteristics), rename the format used for RPG generation (remove the period).
The retrieved file has the following description:
• First field: the key.
• Second field: the information items.To divide the second field, create a logical entity having properties that simulate the division of the field in 36 files (option 62).
Generate this entity using option 85 in order to update the file glossary.
In the Adelia program, make a DSE with the file coming from the entity.
Warning: This may cause a problem if the 36 file's second field contains more than 256 characters.Then create a view with the duplicated 36 file retrieved in Adelia.
Read the view then transfer the 36 file's second field into the DSE. Before a write operation, do the contrary.
On execution, before calling the program, run the OVRDBF IBM command with the LVLCHK parameter set to *NO between the duplicated 36 file and the original 36 file.
