Recommendations
Avoid beginning with an empty environment: ideally, you should first create the screen standards, application areas, software engineers and basic Adelia objects (data types, transaction templates, program templates, management rules, error messages, constants, etc.); these can be received from other environments.
The simple environment is going to be converted. Therefore, if you do not want to lose the initial environment in the process:
- Save the environment, then restore it under another name.
- Use the new environment for the conversion.
Before converting the simple environment, you may want to change the environment name (to distinguish more clearly between the different environment types). To do so:
- Save the environment, then restore it under another name.
- Use the new environment for the conversion.
Authorities required
The user responsible for converting environments must be an administrator type software engineer.
Procedure
In the "Type" tab of the Environment attributes dialog box in the simple environment:
- Enter the name of the version manager's new correction environment.
- Click the Build button.
The conversion process comprises the following steps:
- The initial environment is converted into a production environment.
- A correction environment is created by copying the production environment's data.
- The administrator becomes the version manager's administrator (with the *ADM_VER_MAN authority for both environments).
