Access

To display, create or modify the general characteristics of a report, select the corresponding option in the context-sensitive menu (or the equivalent button) of one of the following tabs or dialog boxes:

To create a current report, click the Create current report button of the Work with a batch program dialog box.

Note: Creating a report of Crystal Reports kind in fact consists in copying the file "Template.rpt" from the directory in which Adelia Studio is installed into the database. This template file is an empty report file, with which the description file "_common.ttx" (*USER, *PGM) is already associated.


Data entry

Name

Name of the report.

This name must be unique among the names of reports in the environment.

Length: 15 characters maximum.

Mandatory entry.


Description

Description clearly identifying the report.

Length: 250 characters maximum.

Mandatory entry.


Layout code

For the current report, this layout code must be the layout code of the program.

On the contrary, if the report is not the current report, it must be different from the layout code of the program.

Length: 6 characters maximum.

Mandatory entry.


Lists

Report template

List of the report templates which can be assigned to the current report.

This list will be dimmed and unavailable if the Crystal Reports radio button is selected; you cannot associate a report type with a report of Crystal Reports kind.

Default: "None".


Radio buttons

Visibility

The visibility of a report is identical to the visibility of the program for which it is created.

A public report cannot be changed into a private report if it is attached to more than one application area or if it is assigned to a program attached to more than one application area.

The visibility of a report cannot be modified if it is the program's current report.

By default, the visibility is set to private.

The radio buttons are dimmed and not active when the dialog box is called from the Work with a batch program dialog box.

They are active when the dialog box is called from the repository.


Report kind

Kind of the report being created: Adelia or Crystal Reports.

Reminder:

You cannot assign more than one kind of report to the same program.

You cannot assign reports of Crystal Reports kind to an ADELIA batch program.


Buttons

Display/Assign

This button opens a dialog box displaying the list of management rules assigned to the report, as well as the list of available management rules which can be assigned to the report.


Sequence

This button opens a dialog box displaying the list of management rules assigned to the report, in order to resequence this list by modifying the sequence numbers of the listed management rules.

This button is not active in display mode.


App. areas

This button opens a dialog box displaying all the application areas to which the report is attached.


Analyze

This option opens a dialog box displaying all the programs that use the report.


Information

This button opens a dialog box displaying information on the report currently processed, such as the name of the software engineer-owner, the dates and times of creation and modification.


Comments

This button opens a dialog box for entering a comment text which will be associated with the report currently processed.


Enter/Create/Modify (validation)

The Enter button (in display mode) closes the dialog box.

The Create button (in creation mode) or Modify button (in modification mode) button validates the dialog box.

The various fields of the dialog box are verified. If all are valid, the report definition is updated in the database before the box is closed; otherwise, an error message is displayed.

The Create button attempts to assign the newly-created report to the current program. This assignment will only succeed if no reports have yet been assigned to the program, or if the reports already assigned are the same kind as the one just created.


Cancel

This button closes the dialog box without validating the choices made.
