Access

To modify the logical origin of a set of Visual Adelia or Web graphic objects, layout fields or report fields, select the option or click on the button relating to the relevant layout manager:

 

Data displayed

List of graphic objects or layout fields.

This list displays the following information:

Name

Name of the graphical object or field guide word.

This name can be edited with a single click on the list cell.

Associated variable

Visual only: associated variable name

The variable name can be edited with a single click on the list cell.

Data flow

Visual/Web only: checkbox indicating whether the graphic object or layout field is taken into account by the data flow.

This information can be edited with a single click on the list.

Type

Data type of the graphical object or field. Note that this type may differ (particularly in length) from the logical origin property type.

Logical origin

Name of the logical origin property, if a logical origin is assigned.

Description

Description of the logical origin property, if a logical origin is assigned.

 

List of logical entities

This list displays the logical entities attached to the current application area with their name and description. A filter is available to limit the displayed information. Select an entity from the list to display the property list.

 

Logical property list

This list displays the logical properties of the selected entity. The display varies according to the input mode:

    • In rapid entry mode, all the entity's logical properties are displayed. The properties compatible with the selection of graphic objects/fields in the list are highlighted, while non-compatible properties are grayed out.

    • In "normal" entry mode, only the properties compatible with the selected graphic object/field type are displayed.

    • If no selection is made, all the properties are displayed grayed out for reference.

 

The information displayed in the list is as follows:

Name

Name of the graphical object or field guide word.

This name can be edited with a single click on the list cell.

Description

Description of the logical origin property, if a logical origin is assigned.

Type

Data type of the graphical object or field.

Note that this type may differ (particularly in length) from the logical origin property type.

 

To change the logical origin of a graphic object or field, double-click on a compatible logical property in the logical property list. A logical property is considered as compatible with the control if it is the same type, but possibly a different length (in the case of numeric data with decimals, the number of decimals must be the same).

 

Check boxes

Display all of the repository's logical entities

Checked

The tree view of unused fields displays all logical entities of the repository.

Unchecked

The tree view displays only those logical entities attached to the current application area.

By default: unchecked.

 

Rapid entry (automatic selection)

Box checked

In rapid selection mode, double-clicking on a logical property assigns the origin to the first graphic object/the first field selected and automatically deselects it to move to the next one. The list of logical properties is not reloaded, the compatible properties are highlighted.

Box unchecked

Only the properties compatible with the selection are displayed. Double-clicking assigns the origin to the first graphic object/the first field selected. The selection is not changed, the user does not move automatically on to the next.

By default: checked.

 

Rename the graphic object/Rename the layout field

Box checked

The graphic object/layout field is renamed by the keyword associated with the logical origin property when the origin is changed. If there is already a graphic object/layout field of the same name in the layout, an error is displayed.

By default: checked.

 

Rename the associated variable

Box checked

The variable associated with the graphic object is renamed with the keyword associated with the logical origin property when the origin is changed. No control is carried out on this variable name.

By default: checked.

 

Note: this checkbox only appears in the Visual Adelia layout manager and for the Adelia objects managed in the Dreamweaver layout manager®.

 

Buttons

Enter

This button validates any changes made and closes the dialog box.

 

Cancel

Closes the dialog box without validating any changes.

Keyboard shortcut: Esc.
