To display or modify the general characteristics of a view for a subfile format, you must either:
Click the View button of the Modify the data flow dialog box.
Check the Detail box and click the Modify button of the Create/Modify the views associated with a program dialog box.
Displayed data
Code
Code of the view reference format.
This code must comply with the criteria for subfile format codes: the sign "*" followed by a number ranging from 0 to 9.
Data entry
Name
Name of the view.
This name must be a valid view name (as defined by IBM), unique in the program.
Length: 15 characters maximum.
Mandatory entry.
Associated file
Actual name of the database file which contains the data to be read or transferred.
A click on the arrow button located on the right-hand side of the field opens a dialog box which is used to select a guide file.
This field must not be filled-in if the fill-in criterion is "None" or "By SQL request". Otherwise, the entry is mandatory.
Check boxes
Add record
This check box is used to add records to the subfile. In this case. The system generates blank lines after the subfile for the entry of new data.
Dynamic pagination
If this box is checked, it retains this pagination mode to display the subfile: as soon as a page is ready, it is displayed. Otherwise, the whole subfile is created before the first page is displayed.

Buttons
The arrow button opens a dialog box which is used to select a guide file for the view.
Key
This button opens a dialog box which is used to display, create or modify the keys of a view.
This button is only active for cases where a key is mandatory; see the "Fill-in criteria" field above.
Enter/Modify (validation)
The Enter button (in display mode) closes the dialog box.
The Modify button (in modification mode) validates the modifications made and closes the dialog box.
Cancel
This button closes the dialog box without validating the modifications made.
