Access

To customize the way sources and objects are presented onscreen, you must either:

  • select the Options option in the Actions menu,

  • click the button in the tool bar,

in the Individual comparison dialog box.

This dialog box lets you customize the way sources and objects are presented in the Individual comparison dialog box and specify the Ignore spaces and tabs and Compare lists of associated objects settings, which are used during the source and object definition comparison procedure. If this setting is modified, the comparison will be re-run when you validate this dialog box.

Data entry

Number of spaces per tab

When the source is displayed, the tabulation character is replaced by the specified number of spaces.

This value must be between 1 and 10.

Highlight the dates from

This criterion is used when comparing sources.

Date from which all last change dates of different lines only will be displayed with different text and background colors defined in the differences display interface options (defined in Highlighted date).

Caution: in order to change this reference date, the box before it needs to be checked. Then select the date, month or year and scroll using the arrows on the right or enter the date directly using the keyboard.

By default, this criterion takes the value of the most recent choice made on the workstation in any of the comparison tool's interfaces it appears in.

The date is only active if the selected object type corresponds to a source comparison and if the Include last change date in source lines box is checked and active.

Lists

Font

Consult the list and select the font used to display the text.

Script

Consult the list and select the language script used to display the text.

Size

Consult the list and select the font size used to display the text.

Colors

The use of a color code means that the differences returned by the comparison procedure are instantly identifiable.

Select the definition context for the text and background colors:

"Identical line"

Line that is the same in both objects.

"Different line"

Line with different text in each object.

"Orphan line"

Line found in only one of the objects.

"Moved line"

Line found in both objects but not in the same place. When comparing object definitions, the objects are associated objects that have been sequenced.

"Selected line"

Selected line (irrespective of type – identical, different, etc.).

"Margin"

Left margin used to display the line number for sources, and the information description for definitions.

Foreground

Consult the list and select the color to be used to display the text for the chosen context.

"System"

This item corresponds to the text color defined at system level, except for the "Selected line" context, for which it shows the background color defined at system level.

"Other..."

This item, at the end of the list, lets you open a color selection Windows system dialog box. When this dialog box is validated, the selected color is added to the Foreground list.

Background

Consult the list and select the color to be used to display the text background for the chosen context.

"System"

This item corresponds to the background color defined at system level, except for the "Selected line" context, for which it shows the text color defined at system level.

"Other..."

This item, at the end of the list, lets you open a color selection Windows system dialog box. When this dialog box is validated, the selected color is added to the Background list.

Check boxes

Ignore spaces and tabs

This criterion is used during the source comparison procedure.

Checked

Any spaces or tabulations are ignored for the purpose of detecting differences between the lines in the sources.

Include last change date in source lines

This criterion is used when comparing sources.

Checked

The last change date is displayed in the margin of each line of source.

By default, this criterion takes the value of the most recent choice made on the workstation in any of the comparison tool's interfaces it appears in.

The box is only active if the selected object type corresponds to a source comparison.

Notes:

  • The source code line differences calculation only takes into account the content of these lines and not their last change date.
  • If two lines are identical, they will have the same last change date (corresponding to the source displayed on the right).

Compare lists of related objects

This criterion is used when comparing the objects that belong to the CDM or LDM.

Checked

The objects defined in the Parameters of a CDM and/or LDM object comparison dialog box and associated with the compared object will be included into the comparison.

Bold

If the box is checked, the bold style will be applied to the character font.

Italics

If the box is checked, the italics style will be applied to the character font.
