Access

The palette will appear immediately when a layout is opened, if the Palette option in the Display menu is checked.

By default, it contains the basic graphical objects (BGOs).

It will also contain any personalized graphical objects (PGOs) selected in the Layout manager tab of the Options of the editor dialog box.

Each graphical object is represented by an icon. A help bubble containing a text describing the object will appear when the mouse cursor is placed over an icon while the palette is active.

Graphical objects are selected by clicking the appropriate icon. The mouse cursor will then take on the appearance of the icon.

You can move the mouse inside the layout to place the object where you want. The object will be placed as soon as you click the left mouse button.

While the cursor appears in the form of the chosen icon, a new object will be placed each time you click the left mouse button in the layout.

To return to select mode, either click the right mouse button or select the select icon from the palette.

Any objects placed using this method will not have any links with a logical entity (no data flow).

To place a graphical object in the layout and at the same time create a link with a logical property of a logical entity, you have to use the Place properties icon in the palette.

You can resize the palette as required.

A contextual palette is displayed when you right-click on any of the icons in the palette except the Select icon and the place properties icon.

The clicked icon's contextual palette provides instant access to a list of all the graphical objects that have the same associated basic graphical object.
