To create a logical server, select the Create option from the context-sensitive menu in the Logical servers tab in the Client configuration dialog box.
To modify a logical server, you must either:
Select the Modify option from the context-sensitive menu in the Logical servers tab in the Client configuration dialog box.
The cursor must be positioned over a logical server name.Double-click a server name.
Data entry
Name
Name of the logical server.
The name must be identical to the one used when assigning a logical server in the Visual Adelia programs.
Description
Remark associated with the logical server.
Conversion site
Conversion site used to convert between EBCDIC and ASCII data types while connected to the AS/400.
There are two possible settings:
*LOCAL |
The EBCDIC/ASCII conversions will be performed on the client machine (PC). |
*REMOTE |
The EBCDIC/ASCII conversions will be performed on the server (AS/400). The *REMOTE conversion site will not be supported in Via HTTP or HTTP Server mode. |
Note: We recommend using the *LOCAL conversion site, in order to avoid overloading the server (AS/400); nevertheless, the *REMOTE conversion site can prove useful with less powerful PCs.
