The license key conversion procedure concerns users who have installed the dongle on a different machine than the database server.

Transferring the license's management is no longer necessary if you are using a software license.

Proceed as follows to convert your existing key and transfer the license server back to the database server:

  1. Install the license server on both machines, i.e. on the machine with the dongle (SRVKEY), and on the database server (SRVDB):
  2. On a client machine that can connect to both machines, connect to the license manager on the machine with the dongle (SRVKEY) in order to convert the Smartkey dongle into a software key.
  3. Select Convert license key in the License menu. The dongle is disabled, and the software license is created in the Hardis information system.
  4. On a client machine that can connect to both machines, connect to the license manager on the database server (SRVDB).
  5. Select Assign license in the License menu. Your license appears in the list together with the information "assigned to SRVKEY".
  6. Select the license and click the Transfer button.

Note: after this step, there is no longer any valid license installed on the SRVKEY license server. This server can be shut down. You can uninstall it later.

You must now correctly re-enter the license server to use in each environment and in the ADELIWS.INI file's default value:

   7. Edit the ADELIWS.INI file on all the machines concerned; enter the AUTHENT_SERVER line as a comment by entering a semi-colon at the start of the line.

   8. For each environment, delete the license server's redirection instruction by entering the following command: "adauthserv ENVIRONNAME *DEFAULT".

Once you have completed this procedure, the Adelia installation becomes operational, and the license server is located on the database server (default installation).
