This example represents the continuation of example 1.
- V4 of the product is put into production. We now need to be able to work with any corrections to V4, and if necessary V3 (during the transitional period before support for V3 is dropped).
- The V4 production environment is obtained by converting the V4 development environment from example 1.
- The next version of the product (V5) can be developed in a new development environment.
V4 – Production
This environment corresponds to the "V4 – Development" environment in the diagram for example 1 (the environment type changes when a new version manager is set up).
Like all production environments, it can only be modified by running the correction validation process in its "V4 – Correction" correction environment.
V4 – Correction
This environment is created from the "V4 – Production" environment.
It can receive objects that were corrected when corrections were validated in the V3 version manager. The user is warned if any modifications made in V4 only are liable to be overwritten. He can then choose whether or not to receive the objects concerned.
These objects are then assigned to a correction, which will require validation in the "V4 – Production" environment (after the integration tests, etc.).
V5 – Development
This environment is created from the "V4 – Production" environment. You can use it to begin development of V5 of the product.
