Access

To work with the management rules in the environment, select the Management rules option in the 4GL Editor's Repository menu.


The dialog box will automatically be opened at the MR tab.


Note: You can minimize the dialog box by double-clicking on the title bar, which will leave only the title bar visible.


Data entry

Name

Character string used as a filter to limit the number of management rules displayed.

Examples:

HLP*

Displays only those management rules whose name begins with "HLP".

*COD*

Displays only those management rules whose name contains the string "COD".

HLP_ITEM_CODE

Displays only the management rule with this name.


Lists

Management rules

List of the management rules verifying the name criterion. The name, type (A for Adelia, V for Visual, and W for Web) and description are given for each management rule.

Extended-selection list.

You can sort the list in ascending or descending order of the values in a column by clicking the corresponding column heading.


Note: With correction environments, there may be a check mark in front of each management rule name.

- A red check mark indicates that the management rule is held by the default correction.

- A black check mark indicates that the management rule is held by a correction other than the default correction.


Context-sensitive menus

"Name" field

Contains the list of default filters and the four most recent filters entered for the type.

Default filter settings:

[ ]

No management rules.

*

All management rules.


Management rule list

Note: if a source code repository is configured for the environment or for the current user, the list is enriched with a graphic indication of the synchronization state, and the menu shows additional options.

Retrieve

Where only one management rule has been selected, this option is used to insert its name into the source in the active document, at the cursor's current position.

This option is only active if a management rule has been selected from the list.


Copy

Opens a dialog box that lets you copy the selected management rules.

This option is only active if one or more management rules are selected from the list.


Create

Opens a dialog box that lets you create a management rule.


Modify

Opens a dialog box that lets you view or modify the characteristics of the selected management rules.

This option is only active if one or more management rules are selected from the list.


Delete

Opens a message box, asking you to confirm that you want to effectively delete the selected management rules.

Once this option has been validated, the management rule list will be updated.

This option is only active if one or more management rules are selected from the list.


Use

Opens a dialog box that lets you work with the management rules, notably accessing the effective and potential uses of management rules in programs.



Individual comparison

Opens the Individual comparaison dialog box for each selected management rule.

This dialog box is used to compare the selected management rule's source with the source of another management rule (from either the same or a different environment).


Global comparison

Opens the Global comparaison dialog box which is used to run a comparison of the sources of a list of objects between the current environment and another.

The list of objects to be compared is initialized with the selected management rules.


Open source

Opens a separate window for each management rule selected: each window will contain the source for one of the selected management rules.

This option is only active if one or more management rules are selected from the list.


Hold

Opens a dialog box enabling the selected management rules to be held by the default correction.

This option is only visible in correction environments. It is only active if one or more management rules are selected in the list and the user has a default correction.
