Client/Server configuration

Access

To define the configuration of a server machine, you must either:

  • Select the Server configuration option from the Visual/Web runtime subfolder in the Adelia Studio folder. It can also be accessed via the application launcher provided with the runtime, or via the list of shortcuts associated with the Adelia icons in the task bar.
  • Run the command MWCONFIG [/cipher [/cert certFile]] /S DirectoryName (where DirectoryOrFileName is an optional parameter).
  • Run the command java [-Dadelia.middleware.cert=certFile] com.hardis.adelia.configuration.CfgSetup /S DirectoryOrFileName (where DirectoryOrFileName is an optional parameter).

The MWCONFIG /S command creates a configuration file MWSERVER.INI. We recommend placing this file in the directory where the Middleware daemon is run, or in the server machine PATH.

Note: With the Windows version, it is possible to create a system variable that points to the server configuration file.

MW_SERVER_FILE: this system variable points to the server configuration file path.

If the MWSERVER.INI file is not present in this directory, a Windows system dialog box will open, letting you select a directory.

When the product is installed, the Server configuration option is set to start in the Adelia installation directory.

When the server machine configuration is defined in this directory, the directory selection system dialog box is not opened.

Notes:

  • In Windows, adding the /cipher parameter enables strong file encryption. The certFile parameter specifies the file containing the server's public key (the adelia-middleware-cert.crt file is looked up in the access path by default and the ADELIA_SERVER_CERTIFICATE specifies an alternative file to use).
  • In Java, the certificate file must be specified in the command line in the same way as for the daemon in TLS mode (see Middleware operating in TLS mode for details).
  • If there is no certificate, the database and user passwords will be AES encrypted.

The configurator parameters for server machines are set out on two pages:

To modify either of these pages, just click the relevant tab.

Click the right mouse button on the list in the active tab to display a context-sensitive menu.

The buttons below are valid for the whole dialog box, regardless which page is currently active.
