Example Client/Server configuration

The server configuration varies according to the server.

Configuring the AS/400 server

On the AS/400, you must create the user PAUL, whose JOBD contains the libraries:

  • HA2SLIB

  • PRODUCLIB (database library)

  • VALIB (library where the server blocks associated with the REGION logical server where compiled for the Visual Adelia programs).

Configuring the NT server

You must create a configuration for the server.
To do so, you must either:

  • Select the Server configuration option from the Visual/Web runtime subfolder, in the Adelia Studio folder.

  • Run the MWCONFIG /S command.

The MWCONFIG /S command creates a file MWSERVER.INI.
This file must be located in the directory in which the daemon is running (Adelia installation directory).

The configuration procedure for a server PC can be broken down into two steps:

First you must create the user PAUL:

Then you must define the database PRODUCT:

  • On the AS/400
Start the daemon using the STRAWSSVR command.

  • On the PC servers
Start the servers by running the Middleware daemon.
To do so, you must either:
